Brahman’s Family and the Philosophy behind Yoga

I didn’t know what to expect. How is this going to work? I came to the Lincoln Park yoga studio early and get to talk to Alyson beforehand. She always makes me feel like she listens; therefore cares, and it creates very welcoming atmosphere. I learned that we wills start with mixed level class together with people who just came for yoga class.
People began appearing shortly and I got to meet my four co-students Rizelle, Gail, and Jessica. I was very excited about the fact that our teacher training is so tiny! I knew it will be personal experience and it will allow us to learn a lot. There are a lot of Chicago yoga studios which offer teacher training, but how many have only 4 students?
After the yoga class, most people left and we began very different class. This is the time when you feel like your teacher is actually speaking whole different language. And she actually is. There is so many thing to the spirituality behind yoga that your head is gonna spin around. It all starts with Brahman, which is essence above anything; however, you got a little piece of Brahman within you as well. This little Brahman is called Atman.  And just when you thing you finally got it, Maya, which is illusion given to us by Brahman, makes us believe in Ishwara. If you feel lost, don’t panic. You are not alone!
Beside the fact that Brahman’s family is quite huge, this was also the first day when I was able to survive in an arm-stand without leaning my feet on the wall. I felt more surprised than excited.  Regular practice makes this happen to you.
